Neljännen ja viimeisen saippuahaasteviikon teemana on leoparditäpläinen saippua. Tässä on linkki Great Cakes Soapworksin sivulle, jossa on ohje miten tehdä saippua. Ensimmäisen kerran kun näin leoparsitäpläisen saippuan oli muutama kuukausi sitten kun Kanadalainen Cee Oil and Butter-blogista teki kaunista vaaleanpunatäpläistä saippuaa :)
The theme of the fourth and final Soap Challenge week is leopard spot soap. Here is a link to Great Cakes Soapworks site, where you can see how the soap is made. The first time I saw a lepord spotted soap was a few months ago when Cee form Oil & Butter made a beautiful leopard soap with pink spots :)
You are suppose to pipe the spots, but I´m really bad at piping even a straight line :D Believe me or not. I still wanted to try this technique, so I made it my way. I used only a spoon and made straight lines not diagonal as Amy Warden did in her video.
Saippuassa käytin 60 % oliiviöljyä, 23 % kookosöljyä, 12 % pellavansiemenöljyä ja 5 % risiiniöljyä. Oliviöljyyn olin uuttanut jauhettua goji-marjoja. Olipa se kauniin keltaisenoranssia. Muina väreinä käytin ihan pikkuisen titanioksiidia ja kaakaojauhetta. Tuli näemmä kätettyä liian vähän titaanioksiidia, koska saippuasta ei näe että saippua on vaaleampaa ruskeiden renkaiden sisältä. Käytin kolme kertaa niin paljon vettä kuin lipeää, koska käytin saippuaan appelsiinisorbetti-tuoksuöljyä jolla on taipumus jässäyttää saippuan.
The soap contains 60 % olive oil, 23 % coconut oil, 12 % flax seed oil and 5 % castor oil. I had infused goji berries in the olive oil to get a beautiful yellow color. Other colorants I used is titanium dioxide and cocoa powder. It seems like I did not use enough titanium dioxide. The soap should have been a little lighter in the middle of the brown parts. I used 3 times as much water compared to the lye amount because Orange Sorbet FO tends to thicken up the soap very fast.
Saippuast tuli mielestäni oikein kivan näköinen ja olen tyytyväinen että sain näin kauniit värit pelkillä luonnonväreillä. Tätä tekniikkaa voisin kokeilla uudestaan todella räikeillä väreillä.
I think this soap turned out better than I had expected and I´m satisfied that I got these beautiful colors only using natural colorants. I could try this technique again, but with brighter colors.
Onpa hauskan näköistä!
VastaaPoistaPs. sinulla on sanavahvistus käytetössä kommentoinnissa.
Hienot! :)
VastaaPoistaKiitti Jenni =)
PoistaIt's beautiful,Marika! Bravo! First time I used this technique, I wasn't piping it,either,I also used a spoon. Second time (this soap hasn't been presented yet) I did piping only for the inner spots and for this challenge,I will make the third one. So,piping or not? Hmmmm, I will see. I didn't use Amy's piping technique either!
VastaaPoistaThank you :D
PoistaIsn´t it fun that you can make similar patterns with different techniques! :) I was thinking of making a small loaf using Amy´s piping pattern, but I think it is so much easier just using a spoon.
Your leopard spots soap is gorgeous, Marika! It sounds like a fun technique.
VastaaPoistaThank you Jenny! It was fun and the best thing was that it was not that it did not take that much time to make.
PoistaOh wow, your leopard soap turned out so good Marika! I've been contemplating just spooning in the colors too, yours turned out so good with that method!
VastaaPoistaThanks Cee :) It was fun to make even if I hesitated a bit. I had everything in piping bags, but I changed my mind when I had too liquid soap.
PoistaBeautiful! I like the colors and design turned out perfect!
VastaaPoistaThank you :) I also like the natural colors.
PoistaIt looks great! I haven't tried it yet - I've been a little behind on the soap challenges :(, but I love how yours turned out!
VastaaPoistaThanks Chrissy! I was just in a hurry and made this soap before Amy published her soaping video.
PoistaBeautiful, Marika! I see lips :)
VastaaPoistaI am making my soap today, so can't wait to see what I am going to do: piping or using a spoon;)
:D beautiful brown lips :D
PoistaBeautiful - love your natural colors!
VastaaPoistaThanks Suzy!
PoistaSO Beautiful
VastaaPoistaThank you :)
PoistaLooks great and I love your natural color choices. Mine had set up so much that I would never been able to spoon it. I had to squeeze the bags like crazy!
VastaaPoistaThank you Carol. My soap what pretty thick, but I mixed it several times to get it more manageable.
PoistaIt looks great, Marika! I also used a spoon, but didn't get as defined spots as you :)
VastaaPoistaThanks! I just spooned very thick soap.
PoistaIt's really nice! Congrats, it turns out well at your first try!
VastaaPoistaThank you very much =)
PoistaBeautiful. I love the natural look.
VastaaPoistaThanks! I do to :)
PoistaYour spots are so realistic and look like my kitty! I also did a different pattern down the length of the log. Both techniques are very nice. Thank you for sharing!
VastaaPoistaThanks Pam :) I love to make soap that looks like animals ;)
PoistaNice job! I love infusing olive oil for natural colourants, didn't know goji berries gave a nice yellow; I'll have to try that.
VastaaPoistaThanks :) Infused goji berries are nice because the yellow does not fade.
PoistaI learned it from Natalia (Mijn Zeep). She is a guru when it comes to natural colorants.
PoistaLooks beautiful! Congratulations!
VastaaPoistaThanks Robert :)
PoistaI love your soap! It looks just like leopard spots! Great job!
VastaaPoistaThanks Milla :o) I also think it turned out nice for a first try.
PoistaPretty :)
VastaaPoistaThanks you Jennifer =)
PoistaThe yellow from the gogi berry for color is really nice. Nice job!
VastaaPoistaI love your idea of infusing goji berries in the olive oil, what a great colour, and your soap is lovely :)
VastaaPoistaThank you. It is Natalia from Mijn Zeep how thought me that you can infuse goji berries.
PoistaThe yellow from the goji berries is lovely! And great combination with the cocoa powder.
VastaaPoistaThanks Ann, I really appreciate it :o)
PoistaOh, it turned out beautifully! I think the straight lines do work out more interesting patterns. Glad you were able to adapt the technique to how you knew you could do it best!!
VastaaPoistaUsing a spoon was so much more fun..
PoistaThis technique is really interesting. Your result is wonderful, Marika, even if you used the spoon!
VastaaPoistaThank you Iulia :o)
PoistaIn response to you question about sour goat milk: when I buy goat milk, I open the package and let it sit on the window sill for a couple of days to let it get sour. The sour milk works the same like adding sodium lactate: it makes a harder bar. I think it also works with yohgurt or the Dutch "karnemelk" (buttermilk). Marieke
VastaaPoistaI don't think the sour goat milk is good for drinking but it works great in soap. I use raw milk from a goat farm nearby. But it should also work well with goat milk from the shop.
