Helppo ja tehokas deodorantti - An easy and effective deodorant

Tämän helpompaa deodoranttia ei varmaankaan ole olemassa jos ei laske mukaan pelkkää kookosöljyä. Ja tämä on juuri niille jotka saavat ihottumaa deodoranteista joissa on ruokasoodaa. Minulle ruokasooda kävi hetken, mutta nyt siitä tulee ihottumaa jo kahden käyttökerran jälkeen. Löysin ohjeen A Blossoming Lifestä. 
I don´t think there is an easier deodorant than this if you don´t count using only coconut oil. This deodorant is perfect for those who get a rash from deodorant with baking soda. I could use deodorant with baking soda earlier, but now I get a rash after two times. I found the recipe from A Blossoming Life.

Kiinteää purissa, mutta sulaa nopeasti ihon lämmöstä. /It is quite firm, but it melts quickly.

 
Tein oman deodorantin aika tarkkaan ohjeen mukaan eli:

½ kuppia (125 ml) maissitärkkelystä
½ kuppia kookosöljyä
40 tippaa laventelin eteeristä öljyä
20 tippaa rosmariinin eteeristä öljyä

Sekoita ja käytä!

My version contains: 

½ cup cornstarch 
½ cup coconut oil 
40 dropps lavender EO
20 dropps rosemary EO

Mix and use!

Arrowjuurijauhe sopii oikein hyvin tähän, mutta halusin käyttää huomattavasti kalliimman jauheen puuteriin ja kuivashampooseen. Olen muuten ihan ihastunut niihin ja puuteria olen tehnnyt jo kolme kertaa. En myöskään voi enää elää ilman itse tehtyä hiuslakkaa. Se on niin paljon parempaa kun kaupan aineet ja sitä olen jo käyttänyt neljä 125 ml pulloa.
You can use arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch, but I wanted to save the much more expensive powder for my facial powder and dry shampoo. I just love them and I have already made the facial powder tree times. I also can´t live without my DIY hair spray. It is so much better that store bought versions and I have already used four 125 ml bottles of it.
 
Deodorantti toimii hyvin ja kainalot eivät ole vielä kertaakaan haisseet hieltä. Ovat pelkästään tuoksuneet eteerisille öljyille tai ei millekään. Vaatteisiin ei ole tullut mitään tahroja, mutta en ole käyttänyt mitään herkkiä materiaaleja vaan ihan perusvaatteita. Mikään antiperspirantti tämä ei ole, mutta mielestäni tehokas ja toimiva deodorantti. Tuoksu tuntui alussa liian voimakkalle kun haistelee suoraan purkista, mutta kanaloisssa tuoksu on kohtuu mieto.
I think that this deodorant is effective and my armpits have not smelled like sweat at all. They have only had a scent of the essential oils or just smelled nothing. I have no stains on my clothes, but I have not used any sensitive materials just basic clothes. This is no antiperspirant, but a good deodorant. First I thought that the cent was too strong, but it is only when you smell the deodorant straight from the jar, but when you use the deodorant the smell is very mild.

Uusi koti, uudet projektit - New home and new projects

Ihanaa kirjoittaa taas pitkästä aikaa blogia. Meillä alkaa muutto olemaan ohi ja tavarat on pääosin paikoillaan uudessa kodissa. Arvatkaa vaan jos minuun iski jo kauhea inspiraatio mitä voisin keväällä istuttaa pihalle jota voisi käyttää voiteissa tai saippuassa. Tulisi jo kevät! En ole ehtinyt tehdä saippuaa pitkään aikaan ja näillä näkymin ehdin vasta ensi vuonna. 
It is lovely to write my blog again. Now we have moved and most things have found their places. Just guess if I´m so inspired to plant flowers and herbs in our yard  that I can use in cremes and soap. Can´t wait for spring! I have not had time to make soap for a long time and it looks like I have to wait for January.

Odotan jo innolla joulupyhiä ja pientä lomapätkää uuden vuoden tienoilla jolloin voin askarrella ja tuunailla huonekaluja. Löysin netistä muutamat pienet projektit kotia varten ja vaan kun ehdin kerätä kaikki tarvikkeet niin laitan tänne myös postaukset niistä. Uuteen kotiin on kiva tehdä uusia asioita ja onneksi mies ei kauheasti kommentoi näitä minun projekteja :D Ainakaan negatiivisessa mielessä. Minä sain ihan vapaasti valita tapetteja ja valita seinien värit. Tietenkin hyväksytin ne hänellä ja meillä onkin aika samanlainen maku. Tapetit olohuoneeseen oli oikea löytö. Juuri minun makuun, eli yksinkertaista ja vaaleata, mutta kuitenkin joku kiva yksityiskohta. Ja hinta ei ollut paha, vain 10 €.
I´m already eagerly waiting for the Christmas holidays and my small vacation in the beginning of next year, because then I have time for my diy projects and I´m going to do something about some furniture. I´ll write about them when I have collected all the things I need. I found on the internet a some small projects for our new home that I want to try. It is so nice to make stuff for the new home and luckily my husband those not mind it :D I got to choose the wallpaper and colors for the walls. Of course I asked him if it was ok, but we like the same stuff most of the time. The wallpapers was a real bargain. They are perfect for me because I like simple and light colors but they still have those nice details. And the wallpaper was not expencive at all, only 10 euros.

Ennen muuttoa tuunasin myös yöpöytämme. Nämä ovat 70-luvulta ja olivat alunperin aika ison ja kolkon näköiset. Pinta oli vähän naarmuinen ja puu oli tummentunut. Vetimet olivat ohkaiset, neliskulmaisesti muotollut ja aika epäkäytännölliset, eli juuri siihen ajan tyyliin sopivat. En kuitenkaan halunnut heittää niitä pois. Ne ovat mukavan kapeat ja niihin mahtuu todella paljon tavaraa. Kuten viimeisestä kuvasta näkyy niin meillä makuhuoneen yhdessä seinä tummanharmaa tapetti niin mielestäni oli hyvä idea maalata yöpöydät valkoiseksi. Pidän muutenkin selkeistä, kirkkaista väreistä ja kontrasteista. Uudet vetimet hankin rautakaupasta joka lopetti seuraavana päivänä, niin siellä oli loppuunmyynti. Kuudet vetimet maksoivat huimat 8€, kun alkuperäinen hinta oli 4,90€ kappale. Olen todella tyytyväinen lopputulokseen.
Before we moved I also renewed our nightstands. These are from the 70´s and originally looked quite big. The surface was scratchy and the wood has started to darken. The handles were very thin, square shaped and unpractical, but just like they were in the 70´s. I still did not want to throw the old nightstands away. They are thinner than most stands nowadays and you can fill them with much more things compared to the new nightstands. As you can see from the last picture that we have dark grey wallpaper on one wall in our bedroom, so I thought that it would be a good idea to paint the nightstands white. I like clear and bright colors and contrast. The new handles are bought from a hardware store that closed the next day. Six handles was 8 euros when the original prize was 4,90 euros per handle. I´m really glad how the nightstands turned out.

Joulutähtisaippua - Mexican Flame Leaf Soap for Christmas

Joudun nyt valitettavasti ilmoittamaan että kotikemistin saippuapajaa sulkeutuu loppuvuodeksi kiireiden takia, mutta ehkä muuta kosmetiikaa ja askartelua ehdin tehdä vielä tämän vuoden puolella. Kohta saa nähdä kuinka iso himo tulee tehdä saippuoita kun ei vaan ole mahdollisuus siihen.
Sadly I have to announce that I will have so much other things to do that my little soap workshop will be closed for the rest of the year. But I will probably have time to make some cosmetics and other crafts. Soon we will see how much I will miss soaping when I don´t have a chance to soap.

Tämä saippua sai inspiraationsa lempi joulukukasta, eli joulutähdestä. Pidän eniten niistä perinteisistä tummanpunaisista jotka piristävät kotia kun muuten on niin pimeätä. Jouluisella saippualla pitää olla jouluinen tuoksu, joten valitsin omenaisen glögin tuoksuksi joka tuoksuu omenasiideriltä, appelsiineiltä, vaniljalta sekä muskotilta.
This soap was inspired by my favorite Christmas flower, the Mexican Flame Leaf. I like the most the traditional dark red flowers that brighten up your home when it is dark outside. A Christmasy soap should have a Christmasy fragrance, so I chose Spiced Apple Cider FO. It smells like apple cider, oranges, vanilla and nutmeg.

Joulutähtisaippua
250 g kookosöljyä
100 g kaakaovoita
170 g oliiviöljyä
100 g seesaminsiemenöljyä
30 g risiiniöljyä
150 g riisinleseöljyä

304 g vettä ja 110 g lipeää 

1 ½ tl kaoliinisavea ja 1 ½ tl jogurttijauhetta
punaista rautaoksiidia
Omenaglögi-tuoksuöljy

Mexican Flame Leaf Soap
250 g coconut oil
100 g cocoa butter
170 g olive oil
100 g sesame oil
30 g castor oil
150 g rice bran oil

304 g water and 110 g lye

1 ½ teaspoons kaolin clay and 1 ½ teaspoons powdered yogurt
red iron oxide
Spiced Apple Cider FO 
 

Lisäsin tuoksun ainoastaan värittömään saippuaan, koska perinteisesti mausteiset tuoksut värjäävät saippuan ruskeaksi ja kuka nyt ruskeata kukkaa haluaa :) Saippua pysyi sopivan löysänä ja sitä oli helppo kauhoa lusikalla muotiin. Aika kauan siinä meni kun yritin että punainen saippua ei levisi kovinkaan paljon yli kukkien reunojen. Eli tämä ohje vaikuttaa oikein hyvältä. Eikä tuoksuöljy nopeuttanut saippuoitumisprosessia. Toisin sanoin hyvä ohje ja hyvä tuoksuöljy :)
I added the FO only to the natural soap batter, because traditionally FO´s with spices discolors the soap brown and who wants brown flowers :) The soap stayed nice and loose so it was easy to spoon the soap in the mold. It took a lot of time because I did not want the red soap to spread. This recipe was a nice one and the FO did not speed trace. 

Saippuaa jäi sen verran yli että sain vielä 5 pientä saippuapalaa/ There was so much soap left that I got also 5 small soap bars.

Suomalainen saippuanvaihto 4

Minulla oli kauhean vaikeata päättää mitä saippuoita tekisin saippuanvaihtoon, joten kiersin vähän saippuanvaihdon sopimusta ja tein kolmet saippuat. Jossain vaiheessa älysin myös että olen ainoa joka tekee saippuoita omaksi ja perheen iloksi. Nämä kolme muuta leidiä tekevät niitä työkseen.
It was really difficult to decide what kind of soaps I would make for the swap, so I bended the rules a little bit and made three different soaps. At some point I realized that I´m the only one that makes soaps just for me and my family. These three other ladies also makes soaps for a living.
 

Tässä ne nyt sitten ovat Ruska, Omppu ja Syysmyrsky.
Here they are Fall Colors, Apple and Fall Storm

Ensimmäisenä tein oranssinpunaisen Ruska-saippuan. Siinä on oma tuoksusekoitus eri lämpimiä mausteita ja sitrusta. Lämpimät tuoksut ovat minulle tärkeät kun ilma kylmenee, koska olen niin useasti viluinen. Väreinä käytin keltaista sekä punaista rautaoksiidia sekä niiden sekoitusta. Saippua sisältää oliiviöljyä, kookosöljyä, kaakaovoita, risiiniöljyä sekä kookosmaitoa.
The first soap I made was "Fall Colors". In Finnish we call it "ruska" when all the threes has different kind of red and yellow colors. The scent has different kinds of warm spices and citrus. The warm scents are important to me when it gets chilly because I often freeze. The colors I used for this soap are yellow and red iron oxides and a blend of them. This soap also contains olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, castor oil and coconut milk.

Vihreästä omenasaippuasta olin enten innoissani. Se on suolasaippua ja minähän olen tykästynyt suolasaippuoihin niin että käytän niitä päivittäin. Sain kokeilla uutta silikonimuottia sekä paria uutta ainetta, nimittäin hamppuöljyä sekä itse tehtyä hamppumaitoa. (Signe, tässä on siis muutamia juttuja joita ostin Helsingistä ;) ). Muuten saippuassa on tietenkin kookosöljyä sekä hieman risiiniöljyä. Omenasaippuan tuoksuöljylle naureskelin. Sen nimi on Apple MacIntosh :) Oikea nörttituoksu! Se on siis mukava vihreän omenan tuoksu.
I´m most exited about this green apple soap. It is a salt soap and as most of you know, I´m a big fan of salt soaps and I use them every day. I got to try my new silicone mold and a few new ingredients. They are hemp oil and home made hemp milk. This soap contains of course coconut oil and a little bit of castor oil. I was laughing at the name of the FO. It is called Apple MacIntosh :) A real nerd scent! But it smells like a nice green apple.

Syysmyrskysaippua tuoksuu lämpimälle viikunalle ja se on värjätty violetilla saippuavärillä sekä rautaoksiideilla. Ajattelin että se näyttää vähän tummilta pilviltä sekä tuulen tuivertamilta lehdiltä. Tämä saippua sisältää oliiviöljyä, naudanrasvaa, kookosöljyä, risiiniöljyä, kaoliinisavea sekä jogurttia. 
The "Fall Storm" soap smells like warm figs and it is colored with purple soap color and iron oxides. I thought that it would look like dark clouds and colorful leaves that dance around in the wind. The soap contains olive oil, beef tallow, coconut oil, castor oil, kaolin clay and yogurt.

Suomalainen saippuanvaihto 3

Kolmas saippuanvaihtopaketti tuli Marjolta. Hänen tuotteitaan voi löytää Akan pajasta. Sieltä saa kyllä paljon muuta kuin saippuaa esim. kynttilöitä, taidekoruja, maalauksia. Marjon saippuat ovat luonnonläheisiä, niissä on mielenkiintoisia uusia aineksia ainakin minulle ja ne ovat rustiikkisen kauniita. Ja yllätyin kun hänen lähettämät saippuat olivat todella suuria. Niistä riittää vaahtoavia suihkuhetkia pitkäksi aikaa.
The third soap swap package came from Marjo. You can find her products from Akan Paja. She does a lot more than soap, for example candles, art jewellery, paintings. Marjo´s soaps are very natural and they contain new and interesting ingredients and they are very rustic and beautiful. I was surprised about the size of the soaps, they are very big. But that only means more wonderful soapy times in the shower.

Tämän saippuan nimi on "Syksyn marjat". Nuo katajanmarjat ovat niin kauniit <3 Saippua sisältää mm. karite- sekä kaakaovoita, manteliöljä, pellavansiemenöljyä ja kookosmaitoa. Katajanmarjojen lisäksi siinä on myös ruusunmarjaa.
This soap is called "Berries of the fall". Those juniper berries are so beautiful <3 The soap contains shea butter, cocoa butter, almond oil, flax seed oil, coconut milk among other things. Besides the juniper berries the soap contains also rose hip.

Tässä vielä parempi kuva miltä saippua näyttää sisäpuolelta. Minä pidän erityisesti noista herkistä ruskeista kuvioista.
Here is a picture where you can see better how the soap looks from the inside. I like especially those delicate brown swirls.

Toisen saippuan nimi on yksinkertaisesti "Syksy". Kuvasta ei ehkä näy niin hyvin että siinä on sekä sinisiä että vihreitä kuvioita. Tämä on oikea kuivan ihon saippua jossa on paljon ihoa helliviä aineita. Saippuassa on mango-, karite- ja kaakaovoita, kookosrasvaa, manteliöljyä, saksanpähkinäöljyä, risiiniöljyä, oliiviöljyä sekä kanervan kukintoja. Tämä saippua on niin ihanan hoitava että päätin säästää sen kevättalveen kun iho on kuivimmillaan. Niin, siis jos vaan maltan.
The second soap is called "Fall". You can´t see so clarly from the picture that there is both blue and green swirls in the soap. This is a good soap for dry skin because it contains mango butter, shea butter and coca butter, and coconut oil, almond oil, walnut oil, castor oil, olive oil and heather blossoms. I planned to save this soap for the end of the winter when the skin is at the driest. Well, that is if I can wait for that long.

Tuoksuista Marjo ei ole kirjoittanut mitään, mutta molemmat saippuat tuksuvat erittäin hyvältä.
Marjo did not write anything about the scents, but both soaps smells wonderful.

Suomalainen saippuanvaihto 2

Toisena pakettina posti toi Vuottaren Jennin tekemät syyssaippuat. Jennin palasaippuoita en ole kokeillut, mutta rakkaalle ukolleni ostin Jennin tekemän nestesaippuan. Mies on kehunnut sitä kuinka paljon tahansa ja puolet pullosta on jo mennyt. Paras kommentti oli se että iho tuoksuu koko päivän kun pesee kädet aamulla.
The second package of fall soaps I got was from Jenni from Vuotar. I have not used her soap bars, but I bought a bottle of her liquid soap for my dear hubby. He has told only positive things about the soap and he has used almost half of the bottle. The best comment was that his skin smells like the soap all day if he washes his hands in the morning.

Paketista osui ensimmäisenä käteen saippua nimeltä "Syysaamu". Juuri tämänlaista saippuaa toivoinkin saavani Jenniltä. Ja tämä saippuan tuoksu! Voisin haistella tätä saippuaa koko päivän. Siinä on atlasseetrin, limetin ja basilkan eteerisiä öljyjä. Mikä mahtava sekoitus! Saippuassa on muitakin herkkuja, esim. luomukaakaovoita, katajanmarjajauhetta, kehäkukkaa, kaoliinisavea ja santelipuujauhetta.
The first soap I picked up from the package is called "Fall Morning". This is just the kind of soap I had hoped for to get from Jenni. And the scent of this soap! I could smell it all day long. It contains cedarwood, lime, basil essential oils. What a great combination! The soap contains also a lot of other good things like organic cocoa butter, juniper berry powder, calendula, kaolin clay and sandalwood powder.

Eikö tämä näytä vähän tiikeriltä? Oletan että nuo ruskeat raidat ovat sitä santelipuujauhetta ja vaaleammat hieman sinertävät taas katajanmarjaa.
Doesn´t this look a little bit like a tiger? I assume that the brown stripes are sandalwood and the lighter bluish stripes are made with juniper berry powder.

Toisena saippuana Jenni oli lähettänyt tämänlaisen pienen paketin jonka päällä tulee "Syksyn värit". Jäin lukemaan listaa väreistä. Kuusi eri väriä samassa saippuassa! Tässä saippuassa on myös mukava ja hieman jännän pippurinen tuoksu joka on sekoitettu appelsiinin, patsulin, kanelin ja neilikan eteeisistä öljyistä. Rakastan appelsiinia ja patsulia <3 Menin ihan sanoattomaksi kun avasin paketin. Katsokaa vaikka!
The second soap Jenni sent was in this small package and it says that the soap is called "The colors of fall". I started to read the list of colorants. Six different colors in the same soap! The scent is both comforting and at the same time peppery. It is a mixture of orange, patchouli, cinnamon and clove essential oils. I love orange and patchouli <3 I became speechless when I opened the package. Look!

Vau! Niin kauniit värit ja kuviot. Tätä minäkin haluan kokeilla.
Wow! So beautiful colors and swirls. I also want to try this technique.

Suomalainen saippuanvaihto

Osallistuin facebookin Saippua-ryhmän kautta saippuanvaihtoon. Teemana oli sopivasti syksyy. Mistä ihmeestä se johtuu että kun postilaatikkosta löytyy paketti niin tunnelma on kuin jouluna? Ensin pitää hypistellä. Sitten avaan paketin ja ihastelen saippuoiden ulkonäköä. Tämän jälkeen pitää tuoksutella ja viimeiseksi lueskelen mitä saippuasta on kirjoitettu.
I participated in a soap swap through a Finnish soap group on Facebook. The theme of the swap is Fall. Why does it feel like Christmas when you find a package in the mail box? First I have to feel what the package feels like. Then I open it and look at the soaps. After that I want to smell them and last I have to read what is written about the soaps.

Ensimmäisenä saapui Mutkutin Heidin paketti. Heidin saippuat ovat tulleet minulle jo tutuksi, koska oli ihan pakko testata hänen tekeleitään. Olivat hyvin mieluisa, mutta valitettavasti ne ovat jo käytetty loppuun. Parhaiten niistä Heidin saippuoista jäi mieleen että vaahdossa on suuria kuplia jotka kimmeltelvät kauniisti.
The first soaps I got was from Heidi from Mutkutti. Her soap are familiar to me, because I just had to try out her soaps. I liked them a lot, but sadly I had already used them all. The thing I best remember about Heidi´s soaps is that the lather has very big bubbles that shine nicely.

 
Tämän saippuan nimi on "Marjametsä" ja se tuoksuu aivan mahtavalle. Siinä on minulle osittain tuttu, osittain uusi tuoksu joka nimi on Fiksut liivit. Itse en ole sitä tuoksua käyttänyt, mutta se on kopio Lushin Figs and Leaves-tuoksesta jota olen joskus kyseisessä kaupassa haistellut ja ihastellut. 
This soap is called "Berry Forest" and it smells so good. The scent is a bit familiar, but still a new one to me. It is called Woodland Walk and it is a dupe of Lush´s Figs & Leaves, that is why I have smelled it before.

Toisen saippuan nimi on "Keltaiset koivut". Ja katsokaa nyt kun Heidi on laittanut mukaan muutaman oikean koivunlehden <3 Tämä saippua tuoksuu kirsikankukalle, sammaleelle ja patsulille. Heidi kirjoittaa että hän ei tähän saippuaan ei saannut sitä värimaailmaa jota tavoitteli, mutta tämä on aivan upea! Pakko myöntää että olen niin kateellinen tuolle leimalle. Minä haluan myös saippuanleimasimen...
The second soap is called "Yellow Birches". And look, Heidi has put some real birch leaves in the package <3 This soap smells like cherry flowers, moss and patchouli. Heidi writes that she did not get the colors she wanted, but this soap looks wonderful! I have to admit that I am a bit jealous about that stamp. I also want a soap stamp...

Kiitos Heidi näistä saippuoista! Laitoinkin hänelle jo viestiä että nämä saippuat eivät vielä korista kylpyhuonetta vaan laitoin ne kirjahyllyyn näytille jotta voin vielä vain ihailla niitä.
Thank you Heidi for these soaps! I already sent her a message that the soaps are not in the bathroom. They are in my bookshelf so I can look and admire them.
