Suddenly I got the idea in my head that I wanted to make soap from cola. So I made one! I cooked one can of cola so it had reduced by 2/3 and I mixed one spoon of sugar so the soap would have bigger bubbles. The soap contains lard, coconut oil, rapeseed oil, activated charcoal and it is scented with Liquorice FO. I like the droplets even though one looks like a butt :D Haven´t tried the soap yet, but I´ll take some pictures when the has cured so you can see the bubbles in the foam.
Love your your experiments, Marika! Let us know how did you find this soap, as we have never thought of using cola in soap :)
VastaaPoistaI sure will. Maybe this would be a soap for a teenager? :)
PoistaOMG! What next will you come up with ? Never have met a soaper more willing to go after his/her ideas and experiments!
VastaaPoistaDroplet is fantastic, love it and I was laughing at your remark!
One question: I noticed that you're using very often big portions of canola oil in your soaps. I have read that, due to its short shelf life, it's prone to DOS. Have you noticed on your old soap such a thing?
Thanks for posting in English, when using phone,it's really annoying to look for translation!
I´m willing to try almost everything :D Haven´t had any problems with canola oil. don´t know if it is because I use my soaps before they are 6 months old or is it because it isn´t that warm in Finland (now it is almost - 30 C). Some Finnish soapers make 100% canola oil soap and it is cured like castile soap. haven´t heard that they would have any problems.
PoistaVery cool, Marika! I've thought about using soda in soap before but have never tried it. I figured I would need to boil it first to get rid of the carbonation and avoid a lye volcano, so it's good to know that's what you did, too. It looks like yours turned out great - the droplets are very pretty. Can't wait to hear how it performs!
VastaaPoistaI´ll let you know. Maybe soda soap will be a hit and everyone will make it ;D
PoistaThat's so cool! The droplet effect is so pretty and I love the color combination. The black swirl on top is so beautiful too, well done! Would love to see your lather results/thoughts once it's cured.
VastaaPoistaThanks :D :D
PoistaWhat a nice idea! Did you dissolve lye with frozen cola? This is how I do when I make beer soap. Please inform us about your impressions when you start using this soap.
VastaaPoistaNo, I didn´t freeze the cola. I cooked it so it would reduce it to a syrup like consistency. Then I added the cola syrup at trace.
PoistaIhan kivannäköistä saippuaa. Tuli taas tunne että voisi vaikka maistaa. Lakujäätelöä.
VastaaPoistaEi kannata syödä! :D
