Lisää mantra swirliä? - More mantra swirl?

I haven´t been soaping for several weeks, because I have not been that much at home and it has just been too hot and moist to soap. It has been so hot inside that it has been like living in a rainforest. I could have put a fan to blow on the soap, but I had to use them for our pets. The dog´s tongue was getting longer and longer and the rabbit was so hot that he just sleeping in the cage or under the couch.

Ei ihan näytä mantralta :D - It sure does not look like a mantra swirl :D
This mantra swirl is giving me gray hair. It didn´t go as I wanted this time either. I just need to practice more. Last time the soap batter got too thick too fast so I picked a recipe with 85 % olive oil, 10 % coconut oil and 5 % castor oil. I used Euphoria FO, because I thought that I would be euphoric if I got a pretty mantra swirl.

Olin mielessäni ajatellut kaunista saippuaa jossa toisessa päässä on kirkkaanvihreätä, toisessa tummansinistä ja keskellä luonnonväristä saippuaa joka ajan kanssa muuttuu vaaleaksi. Noh, sininen ultramariini muuttui saippuassa todella tumman vihreäksi!
I had imagined a beautiful soap with bright green in the other end, dark blue on the other an natural colored soap in the middle that would in time change to a light color. But the ultramarine blue morphed to a very dark green! I think it was because I used a different olive oil than I use to. This one is green and the olive oil that I normally use is golden yellow with a hint of light green. The soap batter was light yellow when I mixed the ultramarine in it. Then I out too little green chrome oxide in one part and got a very light color. When I poured the soaps in the wrong order in the mold I was already laughing :D Otherwise everything went fine. I had to wait for 15 minutes for the soap batter to thicken up, but that is already a routine when making Bastille soap. I think I have to buy a new stick blender that is more effective.

Näettekö saippuan pinnassa nenän ja huulet? - Do you see the nose and mouth?

  2. I am also sad because I have tried today 3 times adn 2 times my dividers fell and the 3dr time I put too much clay or it's because of the EOs, but my soap was too thick. I will tomorrow evening again, hopefully with better results!
What an adventure, Marika! You made me laugh because I also put the colors in the wrong order( as if it was not enough the problems I had) :)
Are you using homemade dividers or have you found a mold with dividers? I believe a good mold it also important to get nice swirls.
    The green is very nice!
    Wish you good luck.

    1. I haven´t had problems with my dividers. As you can see this was a very small batch of soap just for practice. I actually used a yogurt jar. I´ve made the dividers of milk carts of just cardboard. I have also made a "divider holder" that looks a little like a fork. I just out it on the other end of the mold and it holds the dividers on place. I pour only a little bit of soap with one hand and push the dividers down with the other hand.

It is actually a little bit comforting that I´m not the only one having problems with mantra swirl. I´ve also made my third mantra swirl soap and I hope it looks a little bit better. Wish you good luck too. I bet you make a beautiful swirl Natalia :)

    2. Don´t know why blogger deletes my answers to you Hope you got this one.

I´ve made the dividers of cardboard or milk cartons. As you can see from the pic that I did not use a real soap mold. It is a small yogurt can. I wanted to make a small batch of soap. I´ve made a holder for the dividers. It looks a little bit like a fork.

    1. No I got something totally different. But I think this was a nice color experiment also.

It is too hot for me when it gets over +30 C inside the house if it is really moist. Then it is outside even hotter. But if it is normal weather and +30 C then it is ok. There was so moist for a week that my hair turned curly and I looked like a sheep :D
The problem here is that the sun does not go down (or only for an hour or so) so the nights are also hot. My dog is already waiting for winter so she can take snow baths :D
The weather here on the southern coast of Finland feels much more harsh that if you are in the middle parts of Finland. In the winter if it is her -15 C and the wind is blowing a little bit, then it feels much colder that if it is -30 C in the middle parts of Finland.

  5. Gosh, it sounds soooo hot there, I didn't realize you guys get the Midnight Sun in Finland. I really like this soap Marika, even though it didn't turn out the way you planned, the colors are very pretty and I do see a face too! :D

    1. This must be a true facial soap ;)
Yes, we do get the midnight sun. Not as much in here in the south as in the north where the sun doesn´t go down for 2-3 months. It so funny when the papers have been writing about Asian tourists that came to Lapland in the beginning of June and wanted to see snow and there was +30 C :D The tourists have been very disappointed.
